Why Cork? (Material & Benefits)

Why should I choose a cork yoga mat over a regular foam mat?

Cork provides a unique combination of performance and sustainability. Unlike foam or PVC mats that can get slippery when you sweat, cork actually becomes grippier with moisture. This makes it perfect for Hot Yoga or intense flows. Additionally, cork is naturally antimicrobial, meaning it resists bacteria, mold, and odors better than synthetic materials.

Is your cork sustainably sourced?

Absolutely. All our products are made from natural, renewable resources. Our mats and knee pads feature a top layer of natural cork with elements of natural rubber and a bottom layer of natural latex (tapped from rubber trees), making them biodegradable and free from toxic PVCs, and TPE.

Does the mat have a "smell"?

You may notice a slight, earthy scent when you first unroll your mat. This is the natural smell of genuine cork and natural latex. It is not a chemical off-gassing smell and will fade slightly over time, though many of our customers find the natural aroma grounding.

The Yoga Mats & Knee Pads

What are the layers of your mats made of?

Our Pro mat is made of Premium natural cork with a mix of natural rubber for grip and hygiene. It is reversible and can be used across multiple surfaces

We use a fusion of two powerful natural materials for our Balanced and Evolve Mat:

  • Top Layer: Premium natural cork with a mix of natural rubber for grip and hygiene.
  • Bottom Layer: Natural latex for cushioning and non-slip traction on the floor.

I see you have 3 different mats. Which one is right for me?

  • The Pro: Best for travel and stability. Lightweight and portable.
  • The Balanced: Our standard "everyday" mat. The perfect balance of cushion and ground-feel.
  • The Evolve: Extra wide for maximum movement and comfort.

Will the mat slide around on the floor?

No. Balanced and Evolve mats have the top cork layer that allows for smooth transitions, the natural latex bottom is heavy and dense. It grips the floor firmly, ensuring your mat stays completely flat and stationary during your practice. Pro mat has grippy Cork layer on both sides, allowing for a firm grip

How do I use the Yoga Knee Pad?

The Knee Pad is made from the same premium Cork and Latex composition as our mats. It provides a localized cushion for sensitive joints. Simply place it on top of your mat under your knees, elbows, or hips during poses like Low Lunge or Camel Pose for extra support.

Our Balanced and Pro Yoga Mats, along with the Knee Pad, feature a base layer of 100% natural latex. This choice supports our commitment to providing an eco-friendly and entirely natural product, offering excellent cushioning without compromising sustainability. Due to the 100% natural composition, you may notice slight marginal deterioration of the edges over time. However, this is purely cosmetic and will not affect the mat's performance, ensuring your yoga or exercise experience remains consistent with the day you first opened the mat or pad.

Blocks, Rollers, and Props

Are the Yoga Bricks and Wedges 100% cork?

Yes! Our Yoga Bricks, Wedges, Balls, and Rollers are made from 100% solid natural cork. They are firm, stable, and durable.

Are the cork blocks heavy?

Cork blocks are the "Goldilocks" of yoga props. They are made with dense cork with the right amount of weight and sturdier than foam blocks (so they won't wobble under your weight), but they are lighter and softer to the touch than other comparable Cork or Wood blocks. They provide a secure, grounded feeling.

How do I use the Cork Wedge?

The wedge is excellent for protecting your wrists. If you have wrist pain in Downward Dog or Plank, place your hands on the wedge (thick side facing you) to reduce the angle of extension in your wrists. It is also great for heel support in squatting poses.

The Premium Carrying Bag

What is the bag made of?

Our bag is designed for durability and style. The body is crafted from organic cotton, allowing your mat to air out even while packed. The bottom of the bag is reinforced with Cork Fabric, which is durable and easy to wipe clean if you set your bag down on a dirty floor.

Will my mat fit?

Our bags are designed to comfortably fit all three of our mat varieties, with extra room for small essentials like keys or a strap.

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean my cork mat and props?

Cork is naturally self-cleaning, so you don't need to do much!

  • For light cleaning: Wipe down with a damp cloth.
  • For a deeper clean: Mix water with a tiny splash of white vinegar or mild soap. Spray lightly and wipe down.
  • Important: Allow the mat to air dry completely flat with Cork side facing out before rolling it up.

Can I leave my mat in the car?

We recommend keeping your mat indoors with limited outdoor exposure. Prolonged extreme heat and direct sunlight can cause the natural latex on the bottom to dry out or degrade over time.
